Kaunas Residential House
The house is located in a picturesque part of the city of Kaunas, in the Kleboniškis forest.
The place itself is interesting, because it is a forest, there is a river nearby, and although it is not very close, you get the feel of the river. Since the house is an object located in the middle of the block, sufficient distance was created from the neighbors and the road and at the same time the house was naturally integrated into the forest structure. A plus-shaped scheme with an internal courtyard was chosen, which made it possible to create such internal spaces, recesses, which naturally distance the facade from the neighboring lot. Furthermore, thanks to each element of that plus shape, separate sides have been created, like separate houses, and although the pattern of the volumes of the house is quite clear, at the same time the outline of the house is dynamic, allowing it to respond to the forest environment. existing. The goal was to wrap the house in the trees, in every corner, that bay to create a kind of enlarged nature, leaving the trees or planting something new, so depending on the functional or environmental needs, the house was either shrunk or its boundaries across the center of the house flanks were widened.
With the strong effect of the vertical integrity of the brown forest logs, an attempt was made to make the aesthetics of the house as earthy as possible, the building not to be bricked up, but as a pile of bricks to be stacked on a concrete platform. Where privacy was needed, more bricks were added, and where needed, to open, it was sanded down and the glass tops were left so as to let the forest feel into the rooms as much as possible.
